Remarkable Imagery recently spent a long day tramping and photographing a spectacular alpine landscape in the Slate Range, south of Queenstown, above the hamlet of Garston.
Welcome Rock Trails is the brave project of Tom O’Brien, a fourth generation station owner who is opening up this huge expanse of hills and valleys, tussock and tors, with low impact trails for visitors to interact and pass through on foot and by bike.
With a new website almost ready to launch and TVOne’s Seven Sharp program running a piece on the property’s old miners’ hut, we were asked to photograph people enjoying the trails on bikes.
Carrying camera, lenses, tripods and the like meant we had to walk the whole way. Around every corner their was another amazing vista and history is everywhere. Selecting key shots was the hardest part, but we think the results give people a good idea of the uniqueness of Welcome Rock.
